Personal introduction to my customer base
I’ve been fortunate to have a wonderful pack of dogs and humans to work for. I’ll introduce you both via email and in person so that they all know the new face of The Moochy Pooch.
A week of my time
To use as you see fit, depending what you need.
It could be:
- A week doing the job together, where I share as much knowledge and experience as possible, so that you’re completely confident to hit the ground running. This is where you’ll have the opportunity for face-to-face introductions with The Moochy Pooch people.
- Undertaking edits on the website or giving a brief introduction to its content management system (WordPress).
- A tour of the back office systems and admin.
Essentially you have a dedicated week of my time to use as you will. After that The Moochy Pooch will be in your hands.
Back office administrative documents and systems
From Registration Forms, to Joining Instructions and Bookkeeping, I’ll supply you with all the documentation you need to run The Moochy Pooch on a daily basis.
What’s not included?
- A car or van – You’ll need your own suitable vehicle
- The existing phone number – We’ll add your phone number to all comms
- Website hosting – £11.95 per month. (Domain renewal in October 2024)
- Business Insurance – You’ll need to secure your own insurance. It’s easy and inexpensive at around £7 per month.
(You’ll also need to arrange a DBS check as you’ll be holding keys and entering people’s homes, and undertake a Dog 1st Aid Course.)

From deciding to become a professional dog walker to earning a living that’s comparable to employment takes time. For me, it was around 18 months; first it’s all the marketing and set-up, then you get your first bookings, and from there a steady climb to financial security. In buying an existing business you have a higher initial outlay but you’re earning a decent living income every week from the very beginning.
Client introductions
Normally, if you’re starting a new business, you create all the marketing media and then wait for the phone to start ringing. Also, as a new dog walker you have the added stress of not knowing the dogs, which creates a very steep learning curve. Buy The Moochy Pooch and I’ll introduce you to my clients and their dogs. As long as they have confidence in you, they’ll carry on booking as they always have. You’ll benefit from my experience of which groups work well together and all their quirky little traits. Skip all the background admin
To run a business you’ll need some paperwork. And fortunately I’ve done it for you. You’ll have welcome emails, new customer registration forms, digital graphics files, invoice templates, spreadsheets for bookkeeping, a photo library and whatever else you might find useful.
An established brand, social media channels and website
The Moochy Pooch has been going for more than 3 years now and has traction. Search Engine Optimisation takes into account how long a website has been up and running, and how many other sites link to it. There’s plenty of scope for improvement but you’ll have a strong and established foundation to leap from, which will enhance and facilitate any marketing activity you undertake.
Learn from someone else’s mistakes
When I first became a dog walker I made an awful lot of mistakes, some of which were incredibly stressful, tiring, expensive and, at times, unsafe. Over the past three years I’ve smoothed out operations and created a business model that works, which makes it possible to relax and simply enjoy walking dogs. In buying The Moochy Pooch, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from my mistakes and shortcut some of the hardship. I’m not saying it’ll all be easy, but hopefully much easier.
Why am I moving on?
It struck me that you might like to know why I’m selling my beautiful business. Well, I started it as we were coming out of the pandemic and I was struggling badly with my mental health. My mum advised me to do something I could do on my worst day and, hey presto, The Moochy Pooch was born. Over the past three years, being outside with nature, keeping active and enjoying the healing presence of dogs has enabled me to rediscover my confidence, build resilience and ultimately thrive. Now I’m ready to leap into the pursuit of other dreams, dreams that will more than likely take me away from the Midlands. Hence why I’d like to see The Moochy Pooch and all its dogs and owners in safe hands before I go.
